make it worth their while."
"people will stare, so I’ll make it worth their while."
I was born in 1985 at Wordsley Hospital - my mother was aware that I would be born with Radial Clubbed Hands Aplasia before giving birth to me, but she loved me no matter what.
This is uncommon and affects less than 1 in 50,000 live births.
I was never treated differently, me and brother went to the same school and we aways had each other’s backs.
Being treated equally has made me who I am today people might look at me and see that I’m disabled but on the inside I’m the same as everyone else, i.e. needing the same fundamentals of life, to serve.
Knowing whatever you can do I can do it to.
I came to recognise and celebrate my unique identity and encourage myself to be the best version of me.
I have always told myself people will stare, so I’ll make it worth their while.
There are many challenges in life and trust me I have had my fair share, growing up I loved football it was my passion, and I was a very talented player but because of my disability I would not be able to make it as professional, but I did get signed up for Chelsea FC pan-disability football team who then put me forward to play for the England para and disability national football team.
I was also a football community coach and found many young talented players that still play today as professionals, I loved football so much but hated being put in that category. That’s when I created my own football team Rollers Athletic FC. It was a team for everyone, and we achieved great things together.
Behind the scenes when I was not managing Rollers Athletic FC. I was at Old Spitalfields Market in London were me and partner Samantha run our jewellery company S&B’S Styles, but all good things come to an end and another door opens.
I got this feeling inside me, you could call it a gut feeling and from that moment my desire was to give it my all, to achieve greatness!
I loved Fashion and Photography from a young age and decided to start the progress of becoming a model.
I’m nearly 40 years young and my light is shining brighter then ever, I have always been a confident and strong mind individual.
My message is… If you’re going to do anything in life, do it to your best capabilities and never be happy with being mediocre. #average.
I came across DL Models Ltd by doing so, Debbie-Lyn approached me through Instagram. Being signed to DL Models and having an agent that believes in you and gives you the opportunities and platform to express oneself, means a lot seeing that the industry does not have very much inclusivity for disabled people… in fact breaking all barriers that come its way in the fashion industry and proving each model is unique in their own way.
On that note, I’ve got shoots and castings to get to, so I’m going to keep it 100% Visibly Unique.
